Sweethearts

  • A Sweetheart of Sigma Chi is a young lady who embodies the high values, standards, and ideals in which all brothers pride themselves in. Elected at the end of each Fall Semester, a Sigma Chi Sweetheart represents the brotherhood on campus, in the community, in their sorority, and in their everyday activities. The Eta Lambda Chapter is proud to present the beautiful girls who represent the virtues of our chapter.

Dana is a senior Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise major from Clifton, Virginia. She is planning to attend medical school after graduation. Dana is a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority, becoming a Sweetheart in December 2008. "My Virginia Tech experience would not be as special without the lovely boys of Sigma Chi. They truly embody what it means to be a Hokie and constantly show their love for Virginia Tech and Sigma Chi. They are caring and respectful yet care-free and absolutely ridiculous. Some of my favorite memories have been the unpredictable nights that turned into crazy dancing in the big room or late-night snacking and listening to loud music. Sigma Chi is just plain phenomenal. Love you boys, never change!"

She is a sister in the Delta Delta Delta Sorority at Virginia Tech, and became a Sweetheart in December 2008. "My favorite part about being a Sweetheart is that I can honestly sit here and call each and every member of Sigma Chi my brothers. I know they'd be there for me no matter the situation I'm in and have my back if anything was wrong. Most of all I love each Brother so much that it makes me honored to be a Sweetheart. They are truly some of the best guys I have ever known. My favorite memory has to be last semester when we did slip-and-slides in the upstairs hallway. Poor Lance, I don't think he was very happy with us..."

I've met some of my best friends through this fraternity and I am so excited to be a part of such a great organization. I always have a good time with these guys whether it's cheering them on at intramural and IFC games or going through the craziest/most amazing week of the year, Derby Days. Derby Days '09 was epic- dressing up with our coaches, planning our entrance to field games, and the ridiculous morning of 'Feliz Airbands' was truly an unforgettable experience."

The Brothers of Sigma Chi are absolute gentlemen and always know how to have a great time. Whether it is out of control Michael Jackson dance parties at the house, getting crazy in the log cabins of Tennessee, or a late night adventure into Roanoke... the fun times with them are memories I will never forget. The night I received the title was easily one of the best nights I have had in college thus far. I immediately started crying (happy tears of course) when my name was announced because I realized that I can now call all the boys of Sigma Chi my brothers and that I am truly the luckiest girl on this planet to be associated with such an amazing organization. I love you guys!"

It was one of the best nights with all the brothers and getting Sweetheart only made it better. Also, late-nighting at the Sigma Chi house always makes for good memories. I got to know a lot of brothers throughout my freshman year and they are the most respectful, fun-loving group of guys I know. Seeing how strong the Sigma Chi brotherhood is not just at Virginia Tech but across the country was so amazing. Even though Virginia Tech lost the game, we still made the most of our time down there. Our last night, my favorite brothers and I ended up dancing the night away to a Dave Matthews cover band at a nearby house. Memories like this and being able to share my college experience with these wonderful men means the world to me."

They are truly amazing in so many ways and I know that they will always be there for me if I ever need them. I'll never forget all the Sunday night dinners that we used to cook over at my old apartment. It was so fun, we would just buy a bunch of food and they would cook it for us. It was so nice to just hang out, relax, and watch them play these crazy games they would make up with anything they could find that seemed entertaining. I am so lucky to have these boys to share my experiences at Virginia Tech with! Love you all."
