| Grandpa Pearson! |
|
As of Good Friday, Brown and Laura Pearson are now proud grandparents. Mallory Cason Maxwell was born April 2, 2010 to their daughter Vicky and her husband Tavis. Two weeks early at 5lb 9oz, she is doing fine. Brown reportedly told his daughter and son-in-law that he would pay for her wedding if "she went to Tech and married a Sigma Chi!"

| Thoughts from an alum on a recent chapter visit . . . . . . . |
|
Jeff,
It was great to see you last week. It was also great to make it back to the Chapter during Derby Days. The guys seem to be doing extraordinarily well. I was overly impressed with not only the fact that they made almost five thousand dollars in an hour at the brotherhood auction but also with the level of attendance the guys are getting from the sororities. Our chapter seems to be excelling in ways that should make all alumni, Eta Lambda or otherwise, very proud. The guys told me that nearly 700 girls attended Field Games alone, and that, even with only 8 sororities participating, they exceeded their goal of 15,000 dollars for Children’s Miracle Network. I could not be more proud as an alumni of Eta Lambda, or so I thought…
I also had a chance to meet many of the pledges, but not nearly all 25 of them. The quality of the pledge class is extraordinary. Eta Lambda has truly raised the bar and continues to recruit members that will take our chapter into the next 40 years with pride and consideration for the values we all heed as Sigma Chis. These guys will move our chapter forward and will really benefit from all that Sigma Chi and Virginia Tech have to offer. I cannot wait to see what the chapter does in the next several years; how we will continue to grow and be the leaders on campus I know we have been and will continue to be, and how we will promote the values of Greek Life on campus and within the Blacksburg community.
Thanks for your continued mentorship and leadership for our chapter.
In Hoc and Always Proud to be a Sig,
Brian
